Remove the Background
- Open the background remover and drop in an image.
- Leave the model set to General, or choose Portrait for a headshot.
- Click Remove Background. On first use, wait for the selected model to download.
- Check the edges in the preview, then click Download PNG.
The checkerboard behind the subject indicates transparency; it is not part of the downloaded image.

Which Model Should You Use?
- General: Start here for products, pets, and everyday photos.
- Portrait: Try this for selfies, profile photos, and hair.
- Fast: Useful for quick previews or less powerful devices.
If the first result cuts off part of the subject, try another model on the same photo. Fine hair, glass, and subjects that blend into the background can still need manual cleanup in an image editor.
A Few Things to Know
Use a sharp photo with a clear subject. Blurred edges and busy backgrounds make it harder to separate what to keep from what to remove.
Keep the file under 25 MB, with no more than 20 megapixels or 8,192 pixels on either side. Crop unnecessary space first if the image is too large.
Processing runs in your browser. The tool downloads model and runtime files, but does not upload your photo. Models are cached for reuse; clearing the browser cache means downloading them again.
Keep the PNG if you need a transparent background. If you need a smaller WebP or a JPG with a solid background, use the Image Format Converter afterward.
